Orano and CEA validate N45UH NdFeB magnet production on French pilot line

France's Orano and CEA have successfully produced high-performance N45UH-grade NdFeB permanent magnets on a pilot line in Grenoble. The project, part of the Magellan and Magnolia consortia, aims to cut Europe's reliance on Chinese rare-earth magnets, of which the EU imports 98%.

• Grenoble pilot line reliably produces N45UH-grade NdFeB permanent magnets
• N45UH grade combines high magnetic strength with resistance to demagnetization at heat
• EU sources 98% of rare-earth magnets from China, which makes 95% of global oxides
