Diablo 5 director says Diablo 2: Resurrected is modern inspiration

Diablo 5 senior game director Joe Shely said at BlizzCon that the team uses Diablo 2: Resurrected as a source of modern inspiration, not just the original Diablo 2. He said the remaster exists thanks to fan passion, and its item system and modern mechanics influenced the sequel. Diablo 5 is planned for spring 2029.
