NIST age estimation results show best algorithm depends on use case

NIST's latest FATE age-estimation round adds four algorithms from Incode, ROC, Neurotechnology and newcomer tsight. Rankings shift depending on age weighting, image resolution and demographics — Regula-000, Idemia-001 and Incode-002 lead under equal-age weighting, while ROC-003 tops image-weighted results.

Equal-age weighting puts Regula-000 (MAE 3.00), Idemia-001 (3.05) and Incode-002 (3.12) on top
Image-weighted results favor ROC-003 with MAE 2.32 years and Acc(3) of 71.3%
Yoti-004 stays consistent across resolution bands with MAE around 1.71–1.73 years
tsight-000 overestimates West African women aged 14–17 by roughly six years on average
