LAPD Sends $235M Axon Deal to City Council, Approves ALPR Pilot

The Los Angeles Board of Police Commissioners voted 3-0 on September 22, 2026 to forward a proposed 10-year, $235 million Axon contract to the City Council, bundling body cameras, in-car ALPR on 1,600+ patrol cars, Tasers, evidence storage and the AI reporting tool Draft One. A separate no-cost three-month streetlight ALPR pilot was also approved. Retention rules and pilot locations remain undisclosed.
