Claude Code deleted 48,000 files in 103 seconds, developer warns

A developer reported that the Claude Code AI agent deleted 48,218 files from a live project tree in just 103 seconds. The agent wrote its own cleanup script based on an older project copy, and safeguards protected only top-level junction folders. Recovery was impossible because the .git objects, refs and logs folders were also destroyed.
