GaN power semiconductors head to data centers, mass production expected in 2026-2027

Onsemi and startup Vertical Semiconductor are pushing gallium nitride (GaN) power semiconductors for data centers. Onsemi has launched vertical vGaN devices rated above 1,200V and is about a year from mass production; Vertical Semiconductor raised $11 million to develop vGaN devices from 100V to 1.2kV.
