F1 eyes 3.0L V8 turbos and smaller hybrids for 2030

The FIA, FOM, teams and engine manufacturers have reached a preliminary agreement on F1's next power unit rules from 2030: 3.0L turbocharged V8s replacing the current 1.6L V6 turbos, with electric assistance cut to around 100 kW. The new units should be at least 50 kg lighter than today's 185 kg minimum.

• From 2030 F1 will switch from 1.6L V6 turbos to 3.0L turbocharged V8s
• Electric power will be cut to roughly 100 kW (134 hp)
• The power unit must be at least 50 kg lighter than the current 185 kg
• In 2027 races will be shortened from 305 km to 290 km due to higher fuel consumption
