Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope Mission Extended From 10 to 22 Years

NASA says the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope has enough fuel for at least 22 years of science instead of the planned 10. The savings came from a precise Falcon Heavy launch, lower spacecraft mass and an efficient first course correction.

• Fuel is Roman's only consumable resource and main mission limit
• First course correction used 18 kg of the 200 kg allocated
• Launch mass was 8056 kg instead of the calculated 9800 kg
• Halo orbit insertion at L2 is planned for early December
