Sony Patents AI That Fills In Controller Inputs for Players With Physical Limitations
Sony published a patent on September 17, 2026, describing an AI system that tracks how a player uses controls and generates the missing input to complete intended actions for gamers with mobility issues. The model uses input timing, duration, movement patterns and game context, and can run locally or in the cloud. In multiplayer, the AI can be switched off and other players see an indicator when it is active.
- Patent published September 17, 2026; system is controller-agnostic, not tied to PlayStation pads
- AI analyzes input timing, duration and movement patterns plus game context
- Patent example: a left-hand injury causes under 50% actuation on left controls
- In multiplayer the AI can be disabled automatically or manually, with an indicator shown
