Land Rover unveils Defender Wolf Series II military pickup

JLR has revealed the Defender Wolf Series II, a factory-built pickup based on the Defender with a single-cab body and dedicated load bed. It is developed for military use and is competing for the UK Ministry of Defence's Light Mobility Vehicle tender, with no civilian version announced yet.

• The pickup uses the D7x aluminium monocoque instead of a ladder frame
• Torsional rigidity is 29,000 Nm/degree, three times stiffer than body-on-frame designs
• It completed nearly 62,000 engineering tests and was tested from -40 to +50 °C
• Four variants shown: tactical, general mobility, ambulance and utility
