CD Projekt CEO explains switch to Unreal Engine 5 for The Witcher 4
CD Projekt co-CEO Michał Nowakowski said the decision to drop its in-house REDengine for Unreal Engine 5 was made in late 2021 after Epic's The Matrix Awakens demo. He said the switch was not a response to Cyberpunk 2077's troubled launch and is meant to enable more frequent releases in The Witcher saga.
