NIO ES8 in Norwegian Mine: 90% of Traffic Went to Chinese Servers

Project Lion Cage monitored a NIO ES8 for about 2.5 years and found roughly 90% of its outbound connections reached servers in China, with the rest going to Germany, the US, the Netherlands and Switzerland. The traffic was encrypted, so researchers could not see its contents. A separate test of Yutong buses found manufacturer remote access to battery and power management systems.
