GM confirms 8.3L Duramax Mongoose diesel for HD pickups

General Motors has confirmed an 8.3-liter Duramax turbodiesel V8, nicknamed Mongoose, for the Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD. It is the first Duramax pickup engine above 6.6 liters and is aimed at beating Ford's 6.7-liter Power Stroke with over 500 hp and 1,200 lb-ft.
