Microsoft tells admins to migrate Entra ID users to passkeys before SMS sign-in ends

Microsoft has urged administrators to move Entra ID users to phishing-resistant methods such as passkeys ahead of retiring SMS first-factor sign-in in February 2027. Alternatives include QR code authentication and FIDO2 security keys; SMS sign-in is already disabled for newly created tenants.
