HERMES digital HF radio connects the world's remotest locations

Nonprofit Rhizomatica has open-sourced HERMES, a digital shortwave radio set with the Mercury modem. It operates in the 3–30 MHz HF band, sends files, photos and GPS data over 400–600 km at 20 watts, and offers optional encryption.
