Tyndall builds programmable 6G microchips on hBN and GaN
Researchers at Tyndall National Institute and international partners demonstrated programmable microchips for 6G, co-integrating memristor switches made of multilayer hBN with GaN circuits. Published in Nature, it is the first integration of such switches into working millimetre-wave circuits, with near-zero standby power.
- hBN memristor switches integrated directly on GaN chips
- Devices draw almost no standby power
- Technology validated in key RF components for 6G
- Global RF market projected to top €69.7 billion by 2030
