India sets up social security board for gig and platform workers

India's Ministry of Labour & Employment has notified the National Social Security Board for unorganised, gig and platform workers. Chaired by the labour minister, the board will design and monitor targeted welfare schemes and must meet at least three times a year.

• Members include governments, aggregators, unions and worker associations
• Board to recommend welfare schemes and review fund spending
• Mandated to meet at least three times a year
