CD Projekt says abandoning in-house engine for The Witcher 4 had nothing to do with Cyberpunk 2077's technical woes
CD Projekt co-head Michał Nowakowski said the switch to Unreal Engine 5 for The Witcher 4 is not related to Cyberpunk 2077's technical problems. He said the company never aimed to develop its own technology and wants to tell stories; CD Projekt became the only studio outside Epic with access to the engine's internals.
