Speaking at GitHub Universe 2026, GitHub CTO Vladimir Fedorov said human judgment is the most precious resource in software engineering and AI agents should remove toil rather than replace oversight. GitHub now lets Copilot approve and merge code changes, though the option is off by default and admins can restrict file paths.
