Neuralink demos hands-free calls and Grok control via brain signals
Neuralink demonstrated phone calls, in-app dictation and control of a Grok AI agent using imagined speech in a participant of its VOICE study. The company added automatic speech-intent detection and neural signal visualizations, but shared no accuracy figures and the implant remains unapproved by the FDA.
- A call to the participant's wife routed synthesized speech into the iPhone mic
- Saying "Hey Neuralink" in the mind launches a Grok agent on a computer
- Neural voice activity detection starts and stops decoding automatically
- Features were built during a 72-hour sprint at a VOICE participant's home
