Cornell's WILD records hippocampal place cells outdoors for the first time
Cornell's 4.7-gram WILD device recorded over 1,600 hippocampal place cells in nine mice over 15 days in an outdoor enclosure. The data revealed integration of spatial and social information, challenging lab-based models of the cognitive map.
- WILD weighs 4.7 g and logs data to microSD instead of streaming it
- More than 1,600 place cells recorded in nine mice over 15 days
- Clock sync error between units is 0.0 ± 4.3 ms
- Detection-to-stimulation delay is 5.56 microseconds
