Report: 47% of generative AI users access tools via personal accounts

Netskope's Cloud and Threat Report covering October 2024 to October 2025 found that 47% of generative AI users reached these tools through personal, unmanaged accounts outside corporate security controls. IBM data puts the share of security incidents involving shadow AI at 43%, while Verizon reports AI use on corporate devices rose to 45% in a year.
