42% of US county election websites still lack .gov domains

Mysterium VPN's 2026 census of 2,081 US county election websites found 869 (42%) outside the .gov domain, down from 57% in 2024. It also found 23% of contact domains without DMARC, 84% of pages loading third-party trackers and 28 sites with HTTPS failures.
