RFK Jr. lets pharmacies sell six peptides, overruling FDA scientists
HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. issued an enforcement-discretion policy allowing compounding pharmacies to make and sell BPC-157, Epitalon, KPV, MOTS-c, Semax and TB-500. The FDA had removed the peptides over insufficient evidence of efficacy and safety concerns.
- Rule published in the Federal Register on October 30 leaves the peptides' regulatory status unchanged
- HHS will not take enforcement action against pharmacies compounding the six peptides
- An FDA advisory panel voted in July to restore the peptides after Kennedy replaced 8 of 12 members
- Critics cite already reported harms and lack of human trials
