Taiwan develops autonomous drone swarms to patrol its waters
Taiwan's Ocean Affairs Council and National Cheng Kung University are building an autonomous system that lets drone fleets coordinate missions without human intervention to counter China's grey-zone tactics. Simulations of two 10-drone fleets flying simultaneously are complete, with maritime flight trials next. The project uses the Jump 20, V-BAT and Flexrotor drones.

- Drones keep a minimum 100-foot separation in 3D space
- Next: hardware-in-the-loop testing and sea trials
- Shield AI's V-BAT offers over 12 hours of endurance
