NIST sets countdown to retire quantum-vulnerable encryption

NIST released a roadmap (NIST IR 8547) for migrating to post-quantum cryptography. Prioritized federal systems must adopt quantum-resistant key establishment by December 31, 2030, and digital signatures by December 31, 2031, with full federal migration targeted for 2035.
