Delaware plan would let AI agents run entire businesses
Delaware is weighing a bill creating Artificial Intelligence Companies (AICs) whose business is managed by an AI agent with no human at the helm. Rep. James Comer demanded documents on the proposal, warning it could shield owners and investors from liability for harmful AI actions and hinting at federal limits on state AI rules.
- AICs could pursue any lawful business except banking
- A 30-month regulatory sandbox would test the model
- The member is shielded from AIC acts except fraud or willful violations
- About two-thirds of Fortune 500 firms are incorporated in Delaware
