Gut microbiome linked to the pace of biological aging
Researchers at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa found that gut bacterial composition is associated with biological aging rates in 123 adults. Microbiome differences explained about 15% of the variation in DunedinPACE scores, with Bifidobacterium adolescentis tied to slower aging and Succinivibrio dextrinosolvens to faster aging.

- Succinivibrio dextrinosolvens showed the strongest link to faster aging
- Study covered 123 adults and does not establish causation
