Majority of Americans fear AI existential risk, Politico poll finds

A Politico poll of more than 2,000 adults found about two-thirds of Americans consider the chance of advanced AI destroying humanity at least moderate. 17% are almost certain of that outcome, and 48% support a full pause on AI development.
