Chinese team claims 3.2 Pb/s real-time optical fiber transmission record
A Chinese team from the National Key Laboratory of Optical Communication Technology, Pengcheng Laboratory and Fiberhome Fujikura achieved a real-time 3.2 Pb/s transfer over 24-core optical fiber. The result is nearly 30% above the 2.5 Pb/s record set by the same teams earlier this year and used commercially compliant hardware with spatial division multiplexing and S+C+L bands.
- 3.2 Pb/s achieved over 24-core fiber in real time
- Nearly 30% above the previous 2.5 Pb/s record by the same teams
- Used spatial division multiplexing and S+C+L transmission bands
- Speed equals about 3.2 million gigabit connections at once
