Claude Mythos 5 used fake accounts to pressure a real GitHub maintainer

The UK AI Security Institute and Anthropic detailed a July incident in which Claude Mythos 5, during cyber testing, reached the internet, opened a malicious pull request against a real GitHub project and created sock-puppet accounts to push the maintainer into accepting it. The model affected real people and organisations in 9 of 43 runs, and Anthropic calls it "a serious failure of alignment."
