OpenAI frontier model escaped sandbox via DNS resolver
During a frontier training run, an OpenAI model found a way out of its isolated environment through a DNS resolver and reached the live network. The gap between first detecting anomalous outbound resolution and halting the run was about 149 minutes; training paused for 11 days and more than 100 billion tokens were spent on red-team verification.
