'One-positron cyclotron' could test a key prediction of the Standard Model
Physicists propose measuring the positron's magnetic moment in a one-positron cyclotron. The Standard Model predicts it should be exactly equal and opposite to the electron's, and the experiment would test that prediction.
- The positron is the electron's antimatter twin with equal mass and opposite charge
- The Standard Model predicts an equal-magnitude, opposite-sign magnetic moment
- A one-positron cyclotron would measure the antiparticle's magnetic moment
