UK digital age verification in pubs and shops starts September 16

From September 16, pubs, bars, restaurants and shops in England and Wales can accept digital age verification via apps instead of driver's licenses or passports. Participation is voluntary, and services must be certified under the government's DVS scheme. The national Digital ID program was closed in July.

• Rule applies in England and Wales; optional for businesses and buyers
• Only apps certified under DVS with medium trust or higher accepted
• Yoti ID and Post Office EasyID already listed as compatible
• Facial age estimation is not valid for alcohol sales
