UK police detective investigated for using Microsoft Copilot in criminal cases

A senior Derbyshire Constabulary detective is under IOPC investigation for alleged gross misconduct over using Microsoft Copilot to make decisions in criminal investigations and entering sensitive case data into the tool. The inquiry covers his Copilot use from May 2025 to June 2026.
