US Army fields NXGBCC biometric system amid data protection questions

The US Army has reached initial operational capability for its Next Generation Biometric Collection Capability (NXGBCC), built on Samsung Galaxy S23 phones and Dell laptops and matching fingerprints, faces and irises against DoD databases. Procurement records do not specify how biometric data on disconnected devices is protected if captured, while military retention can exceed a century. The five-year program is estimated at $76–114 million.
