Gartner unveils its top 10 strategic tech trends for 2027

Gartner opened its IT Symposium/Xpo with its annual list of 10 strategic technology trends for 2027. They are grouped into three stages: the nontextual AI frontier (LQMs, speech reasoning models, world models), governing autonomous agent platforms (AI context platforms, coding agent harnesses, agent identity) and sovereign computing.

• By 2030 LQMs will replace LLMs in 25% of strategic forecasting tasks
• By 2030 over 70% of enterprise voice interactions will be handled autonomously
• By 2030 40% of robotics apps will use world models, up from under 1% in 2025
• By late 2026 autonomous coding agents will generate 20% of public commits
