GlassTENG smart glasses harvest blink energy to power sensors
A Northwestern University team unveiled GlassTENG, prototype glasses that use triboelectric energy from blinks and jaw clenches to power pulse, blink and chewing sensors. The three sensors draw just 4.1 microwatts combined and classified six activities with 93.8% accuracy, with heart rate within 1.82 bpm of a Polar H10.
- Three PDMS/FEP sensors draw 4.1 microwatts combined
- Six-activity classification hit 93.8% accuracy across 20 participants
- Heart rate stayed within 1.82 bpm of a Polar H10 chest strap
