JWST reveals overlapping jets and a golden cavity in NGC 7129
NASA's James Webb Space Telescope imaged the star-forming region NGC 7129 in Cepheus, about 3,300 light-years away. The near-infrared view shows protostellar jets, red molecular hydrogen clouds and a golden cavity roughly 3.5 light-years wide carved by winds from the young star LkHα 234.
- Image captured December 17, 2025, and released October 6, 2026
- Region lies 3,300 light-years away and spans about 5.7 light-years
- The 3.5-light-year cavity was carved by winds from LkHα 234
- Red arcs are shock waves from jets of young protostars
