Chrome will warn users about malicious commands copied from scam pages
Google updated Chrome's Enhanced Protection mode to detect scam sites that trick users into copying and running malicious commands (ClickFix schemes). When a suspicious command is copied, Chrome strips PII from the clipboard payload and sends it to Safe Browsing for analysis, showing a warning if it is deemed dangerous.
- Gemini-powered scam detection moved from an on-device to a server-side model
- Enhanced Protection makes users 10x safer from phishing and social engineering
- It now checks fake antivirus, browser update and tech support scams
- Page text is analyzed without logging, retention or model training
