New Apple TV 4K adds Whole Room Audio with four HomePods
The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K supports up to four HomePods in front-left, front-right, rear-left and rear-right positions. In tvOS 27.2 users get two modes: Surround Sound and Whole Room Audio, which spreads sound evenly across the room for parties and game day. The new Apple TV 4K launches November 13, while HomePod mini 2 arrives October 30.
- Whole Room Audio assigns left and right channels to diagonally opposite speakers
- Surround Level adjusts the rear pair from −8 dB to +8 dB in 0.5 dB steps
- Pairs of HomePod 2 and HomePod mini 2 can be mixed if front and rear pairs match
- Older Apple TV 4K models remain limited to two HomePods in stereo
