Oura adds Cardio Effort and VO₂ max workout metrics
Oura is rolling out two new features for its smart rings: Cardio Effort, which tracks cardiovascular strain per workout and per week against a personal baseline, and VO₂ max, estimated passively from GPS-enabled workouts. Cardio Effort is available on Oura Ring Gen3 and later, while VO₂ max launches in Oura Labs for the same models.
- Cardio Effort weighs both intensity and duration, not just workout minutes
- Weekly effort is graded Light, Fair, Maintaining, Building or Reaching
- VO₂ max is estimated after five qualifying GPS activities in ml/kg/min
- Both features require Oura Ring Gen3 or newer
