Pollen Robotics open-sources Microduck, a 25cm RL-trained robot

Pollen Robotics, backed by Hugging Face, has released Microduck: a 25cm, 800g bipedal robot whose walking, fall recovery and object grasping are trained largely via reinforcement learning. Both the Rust runtime and the MuJoCo/PPO training pipeline with Sim2Real transfer are now open source.

• Rockchip RK3566 SoC drives 15 servos at a 50Hz control rate
• Training uses MuJoCo and PPO, then ONNX export for Sim2Real transfer
• A separate RL policy kicks in when skate attachments are fitted
• Rust microservices architecture lets only robotd command motors
