Ultium Cells to build LMR prismatic battery cells in Tennessee for GM EVs
Ultium Cells, the GM and LG Energy Solution joint venture, will produce lithium manganese rich prismatic cells at its Spring Hill, Tennessee plant. The company says it will be the first globally to commercially make the chemistry, which offers 33% more energy density than LFP at comparable cost. Construction starts later this year and should finish in 2028, adding 500 jobs.
