Schreier: Rockstar tried "a million" weapon wheel alternatives for GTA 6

Journalist Jason Schreier said Rockstar spent years between 2019 and 2022 testing alternatives to GTA 6's weapon wheel while trying to blend Red Dead Redemption 2's realism with GTA's arcade pacing. The studio ultimately returned to the classic wheel, and some designers left over the lack of progress. Development improved in late 2022 and early 2023.
