Anthropic-linked BootLoops AI helped produce 36 cross-disciplinary papers
Harvard physicist Matthew Schwartz, during a residency at Anthropic, built BootLoops on top of Claude to find techniques from one field that solve problems in another. With 19 coauthors he produced 36 manuscripts across 22 fields, including new estimates for Medicare bonus payments and the aging of sunspots.
- BootLoops combines literature search, coding and equation solving, and is model-agnostic
- Experts vetted about 400 candidate problems, yielding 36 papers in three months
- Precise Medicare rating boundaries would shift $0.9–1.4 billion in bonuses in 2025–2027
- A sunspot's daily risk of 'dying' rises about 20% at a given size
