Dell XPS Googlebook review: premium hardware, unproven OS

The Dell XPS Googlebook is a $999 ultraportable with a Snapdragon X Elite, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD and a 13.4-inch 2.5K 120Hz display. Reviewers praise the 2.2-pound CNC aluminum chassis and 10-year update promise, but say Googlebook OS still can't match a full desktop.

• $999 price, 2.2 lb weight, 12.7mm thin CNC aluminum chassis
• Snapdragon X Elite, 16GB LPDDR5x, 512GB SSD, 13.4-inch 2.5K 120Hz screen
• Googlebook OS runs native Android apps plus full Chrome with extensions
• Limits: no full desktop apps, immature external display support
