All new Kindles feature user-replaceable batteries

Amazon's entire 2026 Kindle lineup — the base model, Kids editions, Colorsoft and Paperwhite — now has user-replaceable batteries. A new Battery information menu rates battery health and flags incompatible third-party cells.

• Replaceable batteries cover every 2026 Kindle, including Colorsoft and Paperwhite
• Battery status shows Normal, capacity limited or incompatible battery
• Plastic models have a pry-off back panel and four Phillips screws
• Aluminum models need a hex key for two bottom screws
