Govt confirms no UPI fees on payments up to Rs 2,000

India's Finance Ministry notified that banks and payment systems cannot charge direct or indirect fees on UPI payments and RuPay debit card transactions up to Rs 2,000. The rule applies to merchant payments, not person-to-person transfers; MDR may be introduced for some UPI payments in the future.
