Uber defeats £340M lawsuit from London black cab drivers
Uber won its bid to throw out two linked London lawsuits worth about £340mn brought by thousands of black cab drivers and two former minicab firms. The judge found the claimants waited too long to challenge Uber's operations in the city between 2012 and 2018.
- About 13,000 drivers filed claims worth up to £25,000 each
- The two claims were valued at roughly £199mn and £141mn
- The court cited the six-year limit under the Limitation Act 1980
- Uber says it operates lawfully in London with a full TfL licence
